Our teachers lead the classroom, working together to give each child the individualized guidance they need to reach their full potential. BGSU students, faculty and parent volunteers provide additional programming throughout the year.
Emily Burkart – Head of School & Early Childhood Lead Teacher
Miss Emily earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Toledo. She holds a non-public teaching certificate from the State of Ohio Department of Education and the American Montessori Credential at the Early Childhood Level. Emily has eighteen years of experience teaching in Montessori education. Emily has served as an instructor of art, science, and geography for a Montessori Teacher Training Program, as well as a mentor and supervisor to many BGSU pre-service teachers and Montessori teachers in training. Emily’s wish is that all children could be educated in a Montessori environment because all children want to learn successfully. She believes children come to school with their individual talents and personalities, which should be recognized and celebrated. Emily feels privileged to be working for the educational interests of the children at NWO Montessori.

Laura Drumm – Elementary Lead Teacher
Miss Laura holds a BS in Family and Consumer Sciences specifically child and family development from The Ohio State University. She holds a non-public teaching certificate from the State of Ohio Department of Education and received her Montessori Certification in 2004 from Columbus St. Jo’s program in Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3). She has 14 years of experience teaching in a Montessori Elementary classroom and has 3 years teaching experience in a traditional preschool program. Miss Laura loves to read, watch football and spend time with her family. Miss Amy – Toddler Teacher & Office Assistant
Miss Amy graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree. While she raised her boys, who all received a Montessori education, Miss Amy provided childcare in her home and volunteered for numerous children’s programs and events. Prior to joining the NWO Montessori staff, Miss Amy worked as a paraprofessional in the Bowling Green City School system helping children with autism. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and crafting. Miss Amy is overjoyed to be working at NWO Montessori as a Toddler Teacher.

Emily Birk – Aftercare Supervisor
Miss Emily attends Bowling Green State University and majors in Early Childhood Education. Outside of school, she holds a leadership position in her sorority and loves spending time with her sisters. Miss Emily enjoys working with all of the children at NWO Montessori and looks forward to taking her experiences here into her future classroom. You will find her in our Toddler program or supervising our aftercare program.
